Thanks, I just wasn't sure if they ever did any fire department paging from that channel.
They use use their own paging system or one that is maintained by a private company.

Chances are the LCSO officer contacted Loveland Fire on their 154.010 VHF channel which is patched full time to their Talkgroup 2. Same goes for all the area VHF fire agencies in the county for mutual aid to Loveland. FERN 154.280 has been patched by Loveland (200) dispatch in the past as well.

Unless they took all the VHF radios out of the 3C CSP cars state has the primary LCSO VHF channels.

Phil.
All CSP 3C still have 155.13 And so do all Windsor PD cars have 155.13, Windsor uses 153.905 as city dispatch in the day. Windsor PD has jurisdiction in larimer too. But uses Weld north DTRS

Larimer has alphanumeric paging on 159.105. I know I have heard tones on Firenet a couple of times.

As far as Windsor goes 153.905 is the "city channel". Part of the old way towns operated back in the UHF days for keeping traffic off of the LAW channels. Most agencies ended up with a city TG but Windsor appears not to have opted for it. Windsor PD is dispatched full time on Local Law North.

Windsor PD as of today is still using 153.905 as car to car and city dispatch. Plus Weld DTRS North for city dispatch. 2 separate dispatches combined into one for day use. To keep dtrs clear. Been talking on 153.905 off and on today car to car. (Their CB or BS channel) after hours.

Windsor has gone back to non DTRS? Either I have bad luck or they decide to go back the one time I try and listen.

That is not true, they use DTRS and VHF simplex. Major priority calls use DTRS. Non priority calls use VHF 153.905 city dispatch during the work day. All calls after hours are DTRS dispatched. Calls are also split up between the to dispatches during the work day. also use DTRS for car to car when on tac set. While in their cars they use VHF car to car or city dispatch 153.905. Hope this clears it up. Confusing They have mobile DTRS and VHF in the cars, But only carry tac set DTRS on their belts with them

Frequency conflict (?)

The list of frequencies at the start of this posting is correct, but the listing in the RR database for Larimer County also shows a Lory State Park on 151.280 with input of 151.250. This is in conflict with the PARKS 2 repeater which has an output on 151.250 and has been confirmed to be in operation as listed.

The license info for Lory State Park (WPJN905) lists 151.280, 151.400, 155.475 and 159.285. There does not appear to be any 151.250 at that site near Bellvue.

I will look into this further unless someone else has already found the answer to the apparant conflict.

Thanks and 73,

The Spud

[AVL is it ,asked a deputy
I went today, looked into a LCSO Charger marked it had VHF antenna on it plus a little black flat antenna that looked like satellite radio on the trunk, I wrote down the brand name and and looked it up on the wed ,its AVL. So now I am wandering if the pancake antennas on the other cars are dtrs or not, because the cars with pancake antennas also had what looked to be the little satellite antennas or AVL antenna on them. I did not want to look suspicious, marked locksmith vehicle with a locksmith looking into patrol cars, it was a stop peek and go thing.

I think this again has to do with MDT.

AVL ? Is this Auto vehicle locate? If so I would think this would be for the AVL.

The pancake looking antenna could be a DGPS receiver unit.

Stuck in traffic on I-25
AVL = Automatic Vehicle Location
It is a system that utilizes radio telemetry to keep track of and locate vehicles. It was used by my old dept back in MD. We had white "pancake" antennas on the trunks of our cars for AVL. Which is why I would venture a guess that that is what lockout keeps seeing.

This has been an interesting thread so far.

So I wonder if the AVL system uses DGPS or some kind of chirp transmission? I assume both.

This definitely makes sense for Larimer County to have, as Larmier county extends to Estes Park! I can't imagine how Larmier is able to patrol such a wide area. The foothills and all!:)

I have a pic of the antenna Pancake. Interesting I saw 2 unmarked LCSO Crown Vics one behind the other both had VHF on Trunk, one had pancake on front roof, the other car had 3 inch 800mhz with black covered coil mounted in the same spot. I still have not seen a LCSO car with MDT yet. I saw the Sherriff THE BIG BOSS driving a unmarked trailblazer with a VHF & 800 antenna on it.

They have so many different antennas on their vehicles, today I also saw a marked LCSO Durango With Pancake and a long vhf wip and a short vhf wip (I think), I looked into it and had GPS in it. All LCSO Search & Rescue Vehicles I Have seen have DTRS & VHF antennas. And another LCSO Car with CB Shortwave But I have seen The car parked at his house had CB antennas on the house.

Which raises a good point. Can LEO's use a CB in the car?

Back when I was an explorer they used them in the cars a lot, but that was way back along time ago when they hand wrote reports lol.
