Absolutely; let's try that again. The band was a little noisy and I think we both were in and out of the mud at times, but it was very do-able. 75/80m has been much worse!

And agreed about keeping the net on HF. What better way to increase your operating skill and knowledge? And it's just plain fun.

P.S. - Sorry to hear about the blowout!

Yeah I mean I would be nice if everyone could be included, but I just wanted to try something a little more conventional, and less technology related (ie voip irlp etc) formats. I think it was past due, the tire I had on there was the last remaining tire that I got with the car when I bought it in 2003. All of the other tires have been replaced since then, and for the last couple of weeks I've noticed a vibration in the steering, and the front end shaking. Sure enough, the tire blew out, torn to shreds, and when they put a new tire on, the car is so smooth now feels like I'm riding on air.

Well I'm going to be on 7251.0 tomorrow morning for the SOUTHCARS net around 8AM CST, I'll QRZ with anyone from here who wants to meet off frequency. And on Monday I'll be on 7285.0 up until that net starts at 0900 cst. So if you can jump on in.

Ok Saturday was a flop for me, due to unfortunate incidents. A couple of slight changes which were suggested.

1. Change the meeting time from 8 AM CST to 10 AM CST
2. Change the time to Universal Cordinated Time :)

So the proposed net will officially meet (or attempt) again on Saturday August 19th at 1500 UTC on 7.285.0 (+/- 10 khz for QRN) If the frequency is in use by a net etc. or conditions don't seem favorable and you don't hear anyone, please check the alternate frequency of 14.255.0 khz (+/- 10 khz for QRN)

Reminder....

RadioReference round-table net tomorrow (Sat) morning at 1500 UTC (10AM Central) on 7285.0 LSB. If you don't hear anything or if a net is in use tune to alternate 14.255.0 USB

UPDATE!!!! UPDATE!!!! 7285.0 has someone running CW on it, and heard a net earlier. 7288.0 is free of interference so the net will be on 7288.0 mHz

Well 15 min past net time, no one came on freq. i checked 7285, 7288 and went to 14.256.0 (255 was in use) nothing...

Don't sweat it Lee. It didn't materialize. I'm debating if weekends aren't a good day. Seems like everyone has something going on, then you have contests to deal with. Might try something in the evening on a weekday instead. After waiting I went ahead and got into working the International Lightship/Lighthouse Special Event, then jumped in the North America QSO Party. So it was a fun day on the air. Even got a DX contact out of it. TG8AOV Sergio in GUATEMALA...

My work schedule is changing (I usually work 11pm to 7am) not sure what schedule I'm going to be going to just yet. I should find out tonight when I go in, but I'd say yeah it's still on for this Saturday.

I was there and never heard anything...

I think a different time and day is needed. Because 10am isn't cutting it.

Hi Charlie, yes you should. I went from have no knowledge of the test to a 100% passing grade in about a month's time just by reading the general class exam book, and more importantly, taking all of the practice exams (12 of them) on QRZ.COM for general. I was taking each one of them until I was passing in the 80% or better when I went to take my exam. And I walked out with my general and a 100% passing grade.

Take some time, go to qrz and take the practice exam. don't do random. just do each of the 12 different exams one at a time and keep working on them until you're getting a passing score on all of them. Then go take that booger. You should be able to pass, and then come join everyone down on the lower bands :)

Today I talked to GERMANY on 70 watts DR1A was his callsign. this was on 20 meters ssb. He was booming in too, and I just have a wire dipole, nothing fancy.

BTW, the net thing is going to have to change. My working schedule is conflicting. So I'm going to see about trying something in the evening instead since saturday morning just wasn't working out.
