I let Proscan log for quite a while and notice some TGID's that I don't have programmed that seems to have alot of hits on them.

A couple questions:

1.) How does my scanner find these TGID's when I don't have them programmed?
2.) What is the point of programming if my scanner finds these freq's/TGID I didn't program?
3.) Should I be programming these new TGID's that I found during logging back into my scanner for some reason?

I have a 996xt if it matters.

I have read the 'easier to read' manual and this stuff just isn't clicking.

Thanks in advance.

IDs are not really scanned. The scanner checks for any activity in the trunking system and if any ID becomes active, the scanner will display it in 'ID Search' mode. In 'ID Scan' mode, the scanner will only display IDs programmed in to groups.

Taken from the Easier to Read BCD396XT Digital Scanner Manual

So, when I use Search on the Sheriffs channel I find a ton of TGID's that aren't in what I imported from radio reference. some of them get alot of chatter so I find it amazing it wouldn't be published in radioreference.

for instance TGID 1424 gets alot of chatter, however it isn't published in radioreference. Why wouldn't it be published?

Some talk groups are not published because people do not report them. Some are not listed because of the nature of the channel. We the users find these talk groups like you found listen to the traffic and report them to be added to the radioreference database. Welcome as a new member we the members help make this place what it is. So if you find talk groups find out what they are and report them it will help you and all other users in your area.
