PSR 600 deaf on P25 Trunking

Is anyone having trouble picking up RI P25 trunking with the 600. My 2096 was picking up the P25 system Ok. Dose the 600 have the problems the 500 had and need some updates.
I checked the CC and I am getting a decode rate but it just scans right over it. I have tried the ROAM and STAT settings and still nothing. I see there are adjustments to the ROAM setting not sure what to do there.

Is the "RI" system new or do you have a database entry for it?

It could be that you are suffering from front end overload do you have a large signal source nearby? Did you try the attenuator or a different antenna with less gain?

Hi Dave, I have no trouble with the MA SP 800 system. I tried the ATT and it dosen't change anything. Should I try the HI-LO adjustment? The decode rate is at 80%.

Are you sure the settings are correct for the RI system then? If it's a true P25 system, make sure TSYS is set to P25 Auto. I'd also try the Multi-site as off.

I see it's a simulcast. You don't hear anything from any of the three systems? Did you try a different active control channel, or can you only hear one of them?

I have the 3 CC in the scanner. South, North and Providence and I can decode all 3 CC but it won't stop when scanning. I could pickup all 3 with my 2096.

Tim,

See my post here: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showpost.php?p=710166&postcount=61

Make sure you actually have some talkgroups programmed for that system, have them assigned to a scanlist, and have that scanlist enabled. At the very least, program a wildcard talkgroup, assign it to a scanlist, associate it with the system (TSYS object) that you programmed in, and enable that scanlist for scanning. My post in the link above describes it - or at least i try do. I'm sure the way i describe it sounds confusing. But make sure you have these bases covered before you throw in the towel thinking it's a hardware/firmware problem.

Let us know if this helps.

Tim,

I am hearing very little on the RI Interconnect also. I have had the 600 for 3 weeks now and the only things I've heard are radio techs shooting the breeze and some encrypted comms which I believe to be North Providence. I have all three zones programmed and I'm quite dissapointed in not receiving much traffic.
I monitor Mass SP, RIDOT and the conventional P25 of Pawtucket with no problems.

I'm not really pleased with the performance of this scanner. I am getting overloaded by TV and FM broadcast throughout the VHF Hi bands which is interfering with my monitoring.
I cannot search any of the vhf hi without constantly hitting the scan control.
I guess I need to keep the old Pro 2006 after all!

I have the same problem with the overload on the VHF-HI what works for me is to ATT the channels. As far as the RI 800 I put the South zone on ROAM and lower the threshold HI at 80 and the LO down to 20 I think it has helped. I just had this happen to me I loaded a new file with Win500 and the 1st bank didn't play anything until I pushed the #1 in and out on the scanner.

From GRE tech support.
Regarding your latest report - are these the results after you loaded the test file that I sent?

80 and 20 are probably not good roaming settings for Threshold Hi and THreshold Low. With these settings, the radio will find the first site that passes the Threshold Hi criteria and stay there "forever", until the decoding % drops below 20%.

For your RISCON system I suggest using Multisite Roam with 92-95% for Threshold High, and 82-86% for Threshold Low.

Thanks to the Tech guys at GRE.

Hi Tim Thanks for the reply.
Did they solve your problem?
The only thing I'm hearing is encrypted comms on tg's 1536 and 1537.
I'm getting 92% on the CC here.
Keep me posted.
