I am not sure the TRX-1 is fully capable of handling and processing P2P25 digital trunking. I had issues when I used to travel through Tacoma, that is why I sold it off and went to the SDS100. Let us know if you're able to get it working though and what you did for future references ..
What kind of band plan does it require ? I think it skips control channel frequencies.

TRX-1 will do P25II.
It is in his set-up somewhere...

The system is not 700 MHz.
PSERN is for King County. WSP and some Pierce County systems use 700MHz.
I see you are in King County so I just want to make sure you are programming the correct system.
On my TRX-1, what band plan do I use ? Custom ? The “T” just blinks in the display and not a peep. I even have a specialty antenna for 700, 800 MHz.

Please excuse me if these are dumb questions
Did police/fire the frequencies move in the same way that the HDTV signals moved to the UHF band or are they on the same frequencies only in digital form?
Is the Uniden Home Patrol 2 a worthwhile buy since the change over?

It's a new system with new frequencies so far. I'm not sure if the old frequencies will make it to the new system in the future.
The new system is simulcast, the HP2 may have trouble with it. The only receivers designed for simulcast are the Unication line, Uniden SDS100, SDS200, and Blue Tail Technologies.
If they encrypt the new system nothing will receive it. This is very likely to happen.

I'm not familiar with the TRX-1.
I'm monitoring using Uniden and Blue Tail receivers. Uniden is selected as P25.
UPDATE.
Got it to work this afternoon. Just had to adjust my squelch a notch. So far all the talk groups are broadcasting in Phase 2.

Just curious, can we expect the patching (I.e. Auburn to Algona-Pacific PD) to continue on PSERN ? Never heard of status bits on P-25.

To avoid simulcast issues, simply use just one site and preferably, the closest site to you. I'm using a 325p2 and an hp486. Both sound great on King County west site. If you need to monitor elsewhere (driving around), set a favorite key with the site closest to where you are.

TRX-1 works well for P25 multicast sites (one physical tx site). It does not work well with P25 simulcast sites (one logical site with multiple physical tx sites).

HP-2 would work for P25 Phase 2 multicast sites; it would not work well for P25 simulcast sites.
If you're having simulcast issues, then use only one site at a time. Choose the site and it's control frequency(s) that's closest to you.
If you need to travel to another part of the county, set a different site (same system) on a knob/button position that covers the geographic area that you want covered.
Make sense?
