Hello all,

I just picked up the PSR-500, and so far it's amazing. I just had a quick question about object numbering -- is it possible to create an object with number 0001? It seems the radio assigns the first available spot as 0010. That is, unless I am missing something (eg. objects 0001 through 0009 are preprogrammed objects). Thanks -- this radio is great, and I'm really enjoying this. I'm sure it will be even better once I have time to play around with Win500,

When it comes to Win500, see if this Guide will help you:

WIN500 - UtahRadio

Object numbering can be controlled with Win500.

Thanks -- so numbering in the radio is automatic (and begins at 10), but numbering in software is flexible. Can scan lists also be reordered in Win 500?

trunked systems take up 10 objects, Talkgroups & conventional freqs take up 1 object.

Ahh, I see -- so the fact that I entered a TSYS means that objects 0000 through 0009 are being utilized, making 0010 the first available memory location for the TGRP. That makes sense -- thanks!!

Maybe, maybe not. The file I'm listening to right now has a conventional frequency that is object #000. It has a Tsys that is object #254. Manually assigning object #'s is not easy if you have a lot of objects. I just sort things and then let Win500 reassign the #'s.

I probably won't go too crazy changing object numbers either. Is it at least safe to say that if you have a TSYS numbered 0000, that you can't then create a TGRP numbered 0001, because the TSYS will be taking up 10 object numbers? Or is that not the case. Thanks again,

Not necessarily.

If you use PC software, you should be able to assign any object numbers you wish - the software should take care of actually putting things into the scanner's memory with the object numbers you assign.

If you create a TSYS in the scanner, it will use a set of "blocks". The TSYS's "object number" is the first block in the set. The set of blocks won't necessarily be contiguous - it depends on the first object number chosen by the scanner and what's already allocated.

Finally, a TSYS can be either 10 blocks (MOT and P25) or 4 blocks (EDACS and LTR).
