I just got a psr-500. I like the way it works mobile, when, listening to multisite system's like Ohio's MARCS system. This is a motorola p25 digital trunking system.

Is there a way to make it show which site I am hearing from? Theres times when multiple towers can be in range.

Also, I have the roam settings enabled with default threshold settings for 95 and 75 when it searches out the next tower. Are these defaults pretty good? Or should I be tweaking them..

Main question though is if I can set the scanner to show the control channel freq (vs. the voice freq) on a talkgroup ID transmission, or best yet show an alpha tag with the control channel freq, along with talkgroup ID and its alpha tag.

Thanks!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question but you can see the active SITE and CC/VC (alternating) while a talkgroup is active:

In the radio's settings menu:
* make sure "Simple Display" is not checked
* check "Show VC/CC"
* check "Show Site Name"

The SITE names can be changed in EZ Scan

IF this isn't what you were asking, I misunderstood the question

Raise Lo to upper 80's may discriminate receiving a tower nearly out of range

No tower alpha tag but CC/VC of tower can alternate. The length of time for alternating can be tweaked.

The OP's question was for the 500 and not the 800. As the previous poster stated, the 500 can be made to alternate between showing the numerical voice frequency and the site control channel frequency but no alpha tagging of the site is possible. This was one of the most asked for abilities when the 500 was new that, unfortunately, apparently could not be provided with its hardware limitations (or internal firmware structure limitations) but has been added to the 800.
