PSR500/PSR600: PSR 500 with DSDPlus

Does anybody know what the correct settings are in the scanner to use to monitor DSDPlus? I have a discriminator tap installed but the computer is not receiving any input. All the audio settings in computer are correctly set up (audio in/out). Thanks in advance, TT.

I take it you did the mod yourself aren't trying to use the "CCDump" on the scanner?

If you did the disc tap mod, are you using a desktop or a laptop?

If there is no audio on the speakers, try an earphone connected to the tap. DON'T put it in your ear - just close enough to see if you hear the audio.

No, I had the discriminator tap installed by Gerry at G&G electronics when the scanner was up there for some unrelated repairs, I figured since it was there anyway why not have him do it. I haven't tried the CCDump setting, should that be set to on? And I have tried on both laptop and desktop, a HP Omen with Windows 10 and a Dell 2000 with XP.

I have to get back from this trip since scanner is back home but will answer as soon as I get back, and I don't know where it was tapped, as I didn't do it. I can call Gerry at G&G to find out, if need be.

You will likely have issues on that radio .. as the scanner needs to be sent a command to tell it to keep sending data.

Ok. I was told that the PSR-500 would be able to use DSDPlus with a discriminator tap that would output the raw unfiltered audio needed by the software. I'm not as knowledgeable on this radio, what kind of command is it, where is it sent from, and is there a way to modify the command so that the scanner keeps sending data? No way since it's unpublished?

That is true .. myself I would not use that radio for that job. But that is just me ... there are $50 scanners on Ebay that you likely could use instead. Unless of course this is maybe for a 700 MHz frequency.

Yes he did install a new jack while it was there. And I am just experimenting with this particular unit as a low priority project since I've never been able to get it to do this. So I just figured I'd ask and see what people had to say. Hopefully the ProVoice update coming out from Uniden will take care of the need for having DSDPlus to begin with. In my area ProVoice is used extensively so that will be great to be able to monitor it without driving around with a computer in the car

The frequency should be entered in conventional NFM mode. No other settings are involved.
