Hey everyone i'm very new to this and trying to program my PSR 500 scanner to us it on the PPST network i have the frequencies but cannot figure out how to program to pick it up

I would recommend some software .. I personally use PSREdit500 which you can get here: Download PSREdit500

In that you are new .. it is probably a good idea to get a "premium subscriber" membership here at RadioReference. That way you can automatically program your scanner from the RadioReference database using the above software.

So i downloaded it subscribed now it says usb not connecting i have tried and tried any hints

You have to install USB drivers which can be found on GRE's website. I imagine that you have some version of windows .. so the software is here:
