PSR-600 using DSD program question

when using the psr-600 with the DSD program tru ubuntu do you still use the usb programing cable.???
if not what would be needed.???

I would think you would need a discriminator tap and output to the PC soundcard. The PC/IF is not going to give you the data you need.

humm maybe i'm understanding what i just read in the wiki page it says PSR-600 comes Built in discriminator data output in simple ASCII output using the PC/IF port

"Simple" discriminator output being the operative word. GRE shouldn't be calling it "discriminator" output, really. What the PSR-600 (and others like it, thru the PC/IF USB port) output is trunking command data in ASCII (text) format. In an application like DSD, you need the actual raw audio sound for DSD to translate.

If you are looking to buy a scanner that is ready to go with DSD out of the box, the PSR-800 does output raw audio (true "discriminator audio") from the headphone jack when properly configured.

thank but i'm done spending for a new scanner but i did find the info to how to tap the discriminator on the psr-600 with pictures what i din't see was either a cap or resistor to the tap.?? anybody knows what the value is for a monolitic cap or can i use a 10k resistor instead.. if any body wants them i can try to up load them.??
also what will i need a mono cable.??? i guess i can make one
