I got this off ebay a few days ago. I knew from the pictures and description that this was going to be a challenge. The front case was messed up pretty bad and there was extensive corrosion to the pcb board involving the contacts for the battery power. Add to that, someone placed a jumper wire that would only allow power via USB.
After a couple hours of intense repair, I was able to get PSR-800 up and running. With the latest firmware and database the PSR-800 is scanning like a champ. I love this scanner !

So Far Away....
I saw this 800,,Had to step away from it due to having a open case with the seller involving a SuperAmp(GRE)..Wish he did me right,,I would have been bidding against you!..All in good fun..

Great Score,,I Knew it was likely a good buy..

Nice work on the cleanup...And congrats on the 800 at thenice price!

If its the same guy, I bought a PSR-700 from him. I thought I had an issue with the scanner and he offered to refund the money right away. Seems from his feedback he treats every case different.

I do wonder where he is getting all the GRE stuff. Seems to be selling alot of it.

Thanks guys,
My biggest fear was that someone super glued the LCD module to the case. As I was pulling the front case and saw that it was not glued I felt pretty happy. Then I saw the added green jumper wire and corrosion, I said "darn it" ! Then told my wife I'm gonna need some time.

I recently got a Whistler WS1040 and had plans to get the WS1080, which I still might do. I have a couple HP-1E's that I'm going to sell. I just can't get over how well the GRE/Whisters perform !

Possibly running the external power with Alkaline batteries? That looks like a lot more than a simple battery leak.

ummm, my comment was about what could have possibly caused that particular damage. It wasn't a recommendation.
I think I just want too much battery life. Like a Samsung out lasting an iphone. We can land a machine on an asteroid, but we can't make a decent battery.

I sold you this scanner! Though I am not the same guy that you guys were talking about, the one that was also selling the psr700 and superamp. I bought it from him outright over paypal and then i added the jumper wire. I didnt want to put the time or money into it so i just sold it off as an ebay special. It appears that the guy before me had stored it with the batteries in it. As there was a lot of residue on the bottom that I washed off. Im glad you could fix it up and get it looking new !
