My PSR 800 recently took a crap. It’s loading super slow, if at all, once it loads it either crashes right away or will crash shortly after it starts scanning.

Use an external USB adapter instead of loading the card in the radio. I would also suggest a new Brand name Micro SD card.

:) If it is the memory card, try to 'repair' it with the manufacturers card formatting tool (if there is none, use a generic tool for digital card media). When it is finished the card might be 100% again. Sometimes, the memory cells get a 'glitch', this will repair it for years of continuous service. It is also a good idea to have a spare occasionally updated (copied) so you have a backup. :)

Not the memory card. Formatted several of them. Thinking it’s a hardware issue.

 Have you tried reloading the latest GRE sourced F/W & DSP (with the standalone utilities)? For the record, I never owned one, found some information here in RR about this. Be extra careful which versions of F/W and DSP you use, you might 'BRICK' the radio. Have you considered the 'legacy' upgrade through Whistler?

I did the legacy upgrade when it was first offered. What F/W and DSP versions do you think I should be using? I typically update those when new ones are available.

In that case this is now a WS1080 as the board was changed along with FW/DSP. I tend to think it is the SD card, or dust in the SD card slot.

The current WS1080 FW is 4.8 and DSP is 3.2.

:) Second what member RaleighGuy posted. Your scanner is now a cloned WS01080. You should have posted in the Whistler forum for your upgraded scanner. Using EZ-Scan, you should be fine. Good luck with your issue. :)

I agree with what was said above - you should refer to your scanner either as a WS-1080 or as a PSR-800 upgraded to a WS-1080. Knowing that you had the upgrade helps other members provide better, more accurate answers to your questions.

Get a NEW Sandisk CLASS 4, 8gb or 16gb card via amazon and go from there not all cards play well with GRE or whistler scanners.
