Does anyone have trouble with the button for volume up and down and SEL button not working. Our just stopped working. All other buttons work.

I know on some of the GRE scanners such as the PSR-500 that the metallic coating on the button can flake off and the button stops working.
I am not familiar with whether the PSR-800 also has this problem or not however it is a possibility if it has been used several years. Typically, the most commonly used buttons are the ones to wear out and stop working first.
If this is the problem you could attempt to find a new keypad or others have suggested metallic paint or attempting to glue a piece of aluminum foil onto the bottom of the keypad button.

That actually just occurred to my 800 about a month ago.
The up/down/side to side keys went out,then the menu key also.
I disassembled to see if there was a visible issue,to my surprise
the ribbon connecting the keypad to the board was angled. No drop,
it was a desk scanner,,I pushed in the ribbon,added a piece of
masking/blue painters tape to secure it and it worked fine.
