In comparing RENIR to PSRN, both aren't similar in that there will be a lot of encryption. I would say there is less encryption on RENIR due to the fact interop TG's appear to be in clear. There is also more 700MHz on RENIR compared to PSRN so far. Overall, I think its really hard to compare the two at this point in time, but time will tell.

Did they get the real stuff that actually costs money or the free toy version?

Only 1 x 800MHz site in RENIR that I see. (Site 19) RENIR - Reseau National Integre de Radiocommunication Trunking System, Provincewide, Quebec
Are you perhaps thinking of the Hydro Quebec radio network? HQ has several 800 MHz sites around Montreal.

I'm getting lots of encrypted activity on 141.69 in Ottawa. TG's are 586 and 544, ID is 8354 and 31375. I think this MAY be PSRN....

I would highly doubt it is. Members here just noted the other day that Ottawa area OPP were still using the Tait hardware. You're likely seeing the talkgroup numbers in Motorola numbers and not the Uniden ones. Radio IDs documented for PSRN so far are very much different than that.

586 * 16 = 9376 = OPP Tac 1. There is an active protest in Ottawa currently so, encryption isn't necessarily out of the option I would presume.
