Time to say farewell to one of the last few vestiges of vhf public safety radio. Good for responders, more bad for listeners as usual.

Yes, except the link posted isn't exactly very descriptive. Like what the timeline is, etc. I'll look in the FCC ULS to see if I can find any licenses, that's if there is anything at all licensed yet.

It's a bid just put out and will probably take several years to complete. Unless you have access through the County bidding process we can't read the bid. I will say police will probably be encrypted. Some counties are going with everything encrypted,so until someone in the know advises what the plans are it is up in the air.
Also you won't see anything in the ULS until the sites are built.Yes it will be digital.

This is what is on the bid I posted originally if you click on the link and scroll down.

The County owns and operates a Motorola VHF conventional multisite radio system with a Harris geo-redundant P25-compliant core and dispatch console system. The County’s current radio system includes six tower sites, all of which are owned by the County. The County desires to improve interoperability communications with all surrounding counties including St. Johns County, Alachua County, Clay County, Volusia County, Flagler County, Marion and Bradford County through the implementation of an APCO Project 25 (P25) open standard architecture communications system. The County desires to implement P25 Phase 2 technology to accommodate future capacity needs and meet any future FCC mandates for spectrum efficiency. The Contractor’s proposed solution shall include the design, engineering, equipment and installation, implementation services, operator and technical training, and continued maintenance services for a state of the art 700 MHz P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2, public safety trunked simulcast radio system.

Look at some of the other county's timelines throughout the state. This process can and will take time. The current system does seem to be pretty robust for what it is though.
