Question about a scanner.

Can someone answer this or move it Uniden Forms since I can’t post in there. Is there way to download or upgrade this scanner to receive phase 2? I know it only picks up phase 1 but can I make it receive phase 2 or no? Also can it pick up the 700 bands since somethings are on that now or no? The scanner I’m talking about is Uniden Digital Scanner BCD 396XT?

No, this is not possible. BTW, you can’t post in root of Uniden forum but you can post in one of the forums subordinate to it.

I don’t know answer to your 700 band question.

No you can not upgrade through firmware or other download for Phase two, yes it can pick up 700MHz freqs.

There is one exception: FDMA (mode "D" in the RRDB) talkgroups on a Phase-II CAPABLE system CAN be tracked using a 396xt. TDMA (mode "T") talkgroups cannot be tracked

About halfway down this page are the frequencies that a 396xt will receive. 700 public safety is included.

As others said, no it cannot decode phase 2, and won't decode DMR or NXDN either. You'll probably need 325P2 or better for phase 2 reception. They've been priced around $320-$330 on Amazon over the past few weeks. That's about as cheap as you're going to find one new. You can always get a $30 SDR and decode phase 2 on your computer though..
