I've noticed over the past few years listings that were in the database seem to disappear and I'm curious as to why? I was just checking a location this morning and it has been removed. This system is still active/on the air. Do admins remove listings due to faulty data someone else submits?? Makes me feel like "why bother trying to keep the D.B. accurate. There should not be an issue with removing dead systems but live active systems are being pulled from time to time. I don't get it. What's the deal??

Yes, specific examples would help. If you copy & paste the RR database link into the Wayback Machine and revert back to a snapshot when you are certain the entry(ies) existed, do you see it/them then?

Or look at the database history log to determine who made the changes. Please tell us what system so we can look at the history logs.

yes it may be best to take a look at the change history & contact the admin(s) who made the change(s) if you'd like an explanation why

RadioReference does not delete listings. I see that your location is Louisiana. If it is a trunked radio system, it may still be on site in a different area.
At the bottom of the trunked radio system page is a link for deprecated trunked systems.

This link is all trunked radio systems that are deprecated: Louisiana Trunking Systems

What I don't get is when someone complains and does not create a submission to have corrections made.

Please help us keep things up to date if you are aware.

Clearly they don't know the information specifically, otherwise they wouldn't have been looking for it in the RRDB; but what they DO know, is that it was there before, but now they can't find it. Does that make sense to you?

We all know of specific TRS' that exist, that we check or reference occasionally, wouldn't know of any specific information, but would notice if it disappeared.

I have offered a suggestion on how to locate something that is allegedly missing.

Using phrases like "What's the deal?" and "Does this make sense to you?" are unhelpful and unnecessary. I wish the original poster would log back in. I'm suspecting the original post was created as a complaint and they aren't too serious on locating the entries.:(

What many people who come here to get Public Safety trunking system information is that the primary channel can change for a number of reasons.

Some systems, depending on the vendor brand, do rotate the on line control channel to allow the transmitters to keep the wear and abuse of just one transmitter within reason. Most of the trunking systems keep the same channel unless there is a failure. Then the system will go to one of the alternate control frequencies.

This same thing applies to any of the simulcast, multi site trunking systems.

Most scanners let you put in several control channels and will scan to find the active one.

Trunking radios are set up with a primary and then if the control signal isn't there will go through the alternate control channels until it finds the data stream.

Hope this may try to clear up the issues of people working with scanners to listen to trunking systems.

However, if the talkgroup your trying to listen to is encrypted, you will not be able to listen to it.
