I have a question, that I hope someone can help me with. I just found my old Uniden Sportcat 180 and when I tried to turn it on, it didn't work. I tried to charge the radio for a while to no avail. I also tried to operate the scanner with the ac power cord also to no avail. This led me to believe that the battery pack is dead. I am going to buy one at Radioshack to tomorrow.
I was looking on ebay and found a seller who was selling the same radio. He noted in his description that the radio was missing the battery pack and being run with a 9 volt battery. I was wondering if that would screw up the radio, being that the 9 volt batter is a little more than the 4.5 volt battery pack thats in it. I mean would it do irreparable damage to the radio if I operated it on a 9 volt battery.
