To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello

I have a G3 pager im doing my best to program but cant figure out how to get the conventional channel list to come up in the box where you can program the knob even after sleeping norma scan nothing comes up in the transfer box. So I Tried importing through radio Ref , but it only puts tow channels in each knob. You can load the knob but as soon as you delete a knob the channels disappeared from the pager.

This is the best way I can explain. I know it s confusing.

Scott-

What version of PPS are you using? Before you can program the freqs/channels to the various knob positions, you need to load them into the conventional freq list... for my version of the PPS (3.16.29E), it's section D2. What have you got programmed there?

It sounds like maybe you want to scan several conventional channels, but they aren't appearing in the AVAILABLE box. In order to be in this box, to be added to a scan knob, they must first be added to another knob position, one frequency to each knob. If they are not, they will not appear in the AVAILABLE box. After you have them in individual knobs, they will then appear in the AVAILABLE box, and can be added to a knob to be scanned. This doesn't seem to be explained well in the documentation. Good luck!

Thanks' All,

So Iguess what you are saying is the chaneels have to be in each different knob , then they can be moved to where they need to go. Ill take it they have to go in on monitor then be changed the normal scan.

You add one frequency to a knob position with "monitor mode" as receiving mode. Repeat this for as many frequencies as you have, each to its own knob position.

Then create one more knob position with "normal scan" as receiving mode and you will be able to pull in up to 16 of the knob positions you created prior.

So to scan 8 conventional frequencies, it will take 9 knob positions.
