Hey guys.. I am having some trouble programming the new WV Interobability Radio System (http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=4076) into my scanner (I have puchased and installed the Uniden Card). I am VERY new to this trunking stuff.

Once this is finished you are supposed to be able to hear any agency dispatched in the entire state from anywhere. Some counties are already live.

My biggest question is.. what type of system is this? From what I can tell it seems like its Type II UHF... can anyone tell by this site above?

Second... under System Frequencies would I need to program ALL frequencies into my scanner or only the ones in my area.. which are "Charleston (Kanawha)" in this case.

I have everything programmed from what I can tell but I am not hearing anything at all.

I think my two biggest questions are... do I need to program ALL those frequencies in the scanner... AND is this Type II UHF or something else?

Thank you very much!

First thing I would manually program and check these freqs before trunking them.
In your area the Control channel is 460.06250 and their is only 3 more listed.
Even without trunking you should hear activity.
Program all 4 freqs anyway.
Also check the other freqs in nearby areas for activity manually programming them.
The RR list may not be up to date also.
Then if you hear coms start with UHF type 2 Mot programming and see if you get any talkgroup id's.

Eddie, Welcome to the forum.

Yes it is UHF but bad news, the 785D is a 3600 CC digital scanner and the WV Interop system is 9600 CC digital. You will need one of the following scanners:
Uniden
296D, 796D 396D or996D
Radio Shack
Pro-96 or Pro-2096.

You can monitor the system with the 785D as a parked scanner using Trunker or UniTrunker decoding software collecting data from the discriminator output of another scanner. Read the Wiki pages on decoding software for more details.
