SDRTrunk Questions about SDRtrunk talkgroups

I'm trying to understand how to get SDRtrunk to play and record calls from talkgroups that are not listed in the alias list imported by SDRtrunk from RadioReference. It doesn't seem to update the list as new unidentified talkgroups come into the feed. Without them being listed in the alias list I cannot set them to listen and record. Am I missing something?
