My Dad was Newark NJ FD. LODD 1972. Firemen families take care of each other. No matter how big or small the help they need. Honor code.
I have 40yrs, 1month and 4days active in the vol fire service. 3.5 yrs in the USAF crash fire rescue. You are right by the fact that firefighters are one big family.

Read post #4. Not everyone has a computer. FIRE321FIGHTER198 doesn't have one and programs by hand.

Oh, there are many here on RR that look down on anyone programming by hand. He has explained this in many of his posts. Thank you 737mech for helping him.

:) Yeah, plus 1 on what he and FF1985 said. This is universal throughout the fire protection service 'world'. For 1 year while I was active duty (1977-1978), was an assistant fire chief on a remote radar station in Iceland. Our squadron (Civil Engineering) was (and still is) responsible for all fire dept. related duties within its taskings. The Icelandic civilian fire chief was the epitome of dedication to his profession, as evident by his rigorous training I went through for that additional duty. Oh, the snubbing on RR is spot on as well. Thanks to the selfless contribution of running towards danger FF1985, it takes a selfless person to do the right thing where necessary. :)

I am pointing out a tool that can help with understanding the programming, like flash cards. Being able to hand program is a good skill, and understanding what is going on is critical to that endeavor.

I have franklin parish programed into scanlist 1. I attempted to program Richland Parish into scanlist 2, but the IDs ended up in scanlist 1. I may have forgot to put the CC & AC in while programming.

Thank you

How did you do the programming? Directly into the radio? Via software? If software, which?

OK when the Richland parish ID's talk hit PSE button
Then Hit PGM Button
Then Hit F2 EDIT
Then Hit F2 CURR
The first thing that comes up to change is "SCAN LIST"
Looks like this Scan List: *01
The * is the thing that assigns the ID to that scanlist
Press SEL it goes away
Press right arrow you see 02
Press SEL you see *02
Now that ID is on scanlist 02.

please forgive me for bringing this up, but I am trying to program my 106. I have Franklin Parish in scanlist 1. This is what I want to do.
Scanlist 2 Richland parish
Scanlist 3 Caldwell parish
Scanlist 4 Catahoula parish
Scanlist 5 Concordia parish
Scanlist 6 Ouachita parish
Scanlist 7 Lasalle parish
Scanlist 8 Jefferson Parish
The problem is this: no matter what I put in any scanlist, somehow it ends up in scanlist 1. I am pretty sure I am doing it right, but I might be missing a step. Yesterday I tried to program Richland parish into scanlist 2, but the cc and acc ended up in scanlist 1. The IDs ended up in scanlist 2.
PLEASE HELP
We do not have a computer.

Thanks for your reaction doc, once again I made the mistake of responding to a personal message on the open forum. I know you get my point, it is what it is but I never meant to say all of that on the open forum. I've got to be more careful. LOL.

To the original poster oh, I tried so hard in the last months to answer your question and to get other people involved to answer your question that you have posted multiple multiple times. You've gotten multiple responses on multiple threads and now a great response here from JJZ... hope it helps this time. (y)

Thanks kruser, you are obviously aware of this ongoing saga. It's so easy to solve this problem and it has been explained multiple times. Very simple solution spelled out repetitively.

I was really hoping to get more help without involving the 2 year olds. I am really saddened by the negative responses. It would great to just love one another and help each other without whining.

God bless and have a safe day

You must turn off the * astrisk on one then turn it on on SL 2 , every thing reverts to SL1 unless you move the asterisk

I am aware of removing the Asterik from sl 1 and putting it on the scanlist I want to program. While driving to a doctors appointment in Monroe I attempted to program Richland parish, but I got the cc and acc programed in SL 2 but the ids ended up in SL 1. ??????

Yes you do. cc and acc do not get assigned to scan lists only talkgroups. The only time a freq gets to a scan list is when you program a conventional channel. Once it is in the radio all scan lists are available to use. Talkgroups are for Tsys trunking systems. They can go in one or two or all the scan lists if you want. Turn on asterisk where you want the talk group to work.

Thank you very much for the friendly response. I forgot to say that I am not good with technology. I have a condition that effects my memory and that is why I post or repost a lot. It would be nice if others would realize this. I have stated before that I am trying to enjoy this hobby as long as possible.
