I would like to connect a radio to my audio-in/mic port on my soundcard and have it record (preferably with timestamp) whenever the radio receives a transmission. In other words I don't want to be recording a whole bunch of dead air also. Any recommendations?

Using an app with VOX capabilities will start / stop and eliminate dead air. Maybe someone else can chime in with the time stamp part.

ARC500 Pro can do this. I don't know if it will work with your scanner or not. Maybe its competitors also offer a similar feature. If you are using a non-scanner radio, then this suggestion probably won't help much...sorry.

Hope this helps,

Scanner recorder pro or SC pro records scanner audio with timestamps at an interval you set, and also has vox capability. Not sure where you can get it, I had to find someone on here who had it to give it to me.
