Wow, why don't we all just pick a feed and starting slinging mud about it?

Mods, before this gets out of hand, how about locking this topic. Seems to me the question has been answered.

To answer your 1st question: I am just wondering why Radio Reference provided feeds do not have anything in the discription but they are so avid about regular providers having something in the details. I really just want to know what is being monitored on the NCR region feeds.

Lindsay already responded that it was just something that had been overlooked and that they will try and get some info up. But, given the number of feeds they added their and the extreme amount of time and work put into providing that RR-Owned set of feeds, I imagine that once it was up and running everyone involved probably was just glad it was up and working and really wanted to take a break from it all. I think those feeds came online during / shortly after the Christmas/New Years holiday. I can't blame anyone for making the feed description an extremely low priority.

Also consider the quality of those feeds -- and that if you want to do the description justice, it could take a long time to write up all of the details about what is monitored on each one of those feeds and to make those details presentable in such a way that would equal the quality of the feeds.

To respond to your 2nd statement: Mabye you should have used the "Report a problem" button to report that there was a issue with my Cleveland Center feed. Also, by stating this: "If somebody looks on the live audio page, the whole northeast is covered in blue [as it to say that usable public safety feeds are in all those counties]" you are stating that aircraft feeds are unuseable? Radio Reference is not only a place for Public Saftey. Also, you are stating that I am not able to cover the counties I am covering, but when in fact I am in listening range of all the towers that the FAA uses in the counties I am broadcasting to. Also, if you are saying that my feed has terrible interference on it then mabye you should have to me this erlier so I could go about trying to fix it. If you care so much about how the audio sounds why don't you give me a few things to try to resolve the issue?

That's a legitimate response. To be honest, (a) I only monitored the TRACON feed once -- today, for 3 minutes, and (b) I already *****ed and moaned to the admins that that aircraft feed should not falsely suggest that all of the counties that it covers are "covered".

Even though RR provides more than PS feeds, when somebody goes to the Live Audio section and looks at the global statewide picture, 99% of them are wondering about public safety... not aircraft, ham, other. So, when they go there they get the false impression that every county has its own public safety feed when in fact many counties do not and the county just shows blue because of your TRACON feed's wide scope. For me, someone who provides feeds and has often thought about providing another, it would really irk me to see that counties "looked" to be covered from a public safety standpoint only to discover that they aren't necessarily covered for public safety.

(Perhaps RR should think about color-coding the Live Audio map so that PS items are one color, and other genres are another color)

As far as your coverage - Sorry, but I'd have to disagree that you are providing reliable coverage over that huge area. I might be totally wrong about it, but it's my opinion at any rate.

I could have [and should have] just mentioned it to you via a PM. That would have been a polite and admin-wise choice. But, you were already complaining about the lack of a description on the RR-owned feeds and I found it to be quite irritating. So, in turn I figured I'd show you where you might want to focus more on your feeds and making sure everything about them was the best that it could be, before you went on to critique someone else's. Should I have PM'd you instead and simply mentioned that your feed had some interference on it? Yes. Was the child in me coming out? Probably. I apologize for that.

Mike
