Hello,
I am wondering why most if not all of the feeds that are provided by Radio Reference do not have anything whatsoever in the feed info page. When you apply to become a feed broadcaster you are told to put what channels you are monitoring in the Info Page.

I am wondering why that the standards are different for the feeds that are provided by Radio Reference?

The reason I am asking this is due to me wanting to know what channels are monitored on some Washington D.C. Metro area feeds.

Thank you,
Justin

We require all that information before we approve a feed; I dont approve a feed without it.

Now, once that feed has been approved they can go back and edit that page anytime they wish so they can add or subtract from that page. After the application is approve there's not much we can do as we do not moderate those pages. We also keep that page open for providers to freely put anything they want in (as long as its within our TOS of course).

Why not just ask the question instead of accusing RR feeds of having a different standard? I see a lot of feeds with not-to-detailed info (and or blatantly wrong) that are not RR provided...

Can you tell me what is monitored on some feeds that are provided by radio reference then? Since you work for them? I just dont understand why someone that provides the feeds by radio reference would go back and delete all of the info from all of the feeds.

I only know whats listed on their page.

If you want to findout what they are monitoring for the ones who do not have it listed, then i would suggest you try contacting them through the "Report a problem". Thats the best solution i can give you. As i said, we only require that info when they submit an application so we can make sure its within our TOS and not a duplicate of an existing feed.

Take it easy Justin. When we provisioned the 8 feeds, we just simply forgot to include more detailed information in the details section.

I'll try to get that updated here soon.

No, you were looking to pick a fight and make a point that RR's attitude was "do as we say, not as we do". If all you really wanted to know is what was being monitored, that should've been your first sentence, not your last.

Still nothing has been done about this. If you would just tell me what is being monitored I would be happy, if it is to much to put the channels that the scanner monitors in the details section.

Thank you.

you know, we are providing alpha tags on each of those feeds... so you can have a look for yourself what is being monitored.

Not every channel would be active at the time I was listening.

Why are you continuously picking nits over the fact that a detailed description of what is monitored is not provided on the feed page?

Instead I would think that you'd focus on cleaning up that Cleveland TRACON feed - man it has some nasty computer interference on it. Not only that, but it definitely does not reliably cover 33 counties that you've claimed it covers. If somebody looks on the live audio page, the whole northeast is covered in blue [as it to say that usable public safety feeds are in all those counties], when in fact in many counties the only feed available is your Cleveland TRACON feed, which doesn't even cover public safety and has terrible interference on it!

I really wish the live audio admins would limit the # of counties your TRACON feed shows up in, since you really can't reliably monitor air traffic in 33 counties and it falsely indicates that all of those counties are covered with a relevant feed when many are not.

To answer your 1st question: I am just wondering why Radio Reference provided feeds do not have anything in the discription but they are so avid about regular providers having something in the details. I really just want to know what is being monitored on the NCR region feeds.

To respond to your 2nd statement: Mabye you should have used the "Report a problem" button to report that there was a issue with my Cleveland Center feed. Also, by stating this: "If somebody looks on the live audio page, the whole northeast is covered in blue [as it to say that usable public safety feeds are in all those counties]" you are stating that aircraft feeds are unuseable? Radio Reference is not only a place for Public Saftey. Also, you are stating that I am not able to cover the counties I am covering, but when in fact I am in listening range of all the towers that the FAA uses in the counties I am broadcasting to. Also, if you are saying that my feed has terrible interference on it then mabye you should have to me this erlier so I could go about trying to fix it. If you care so much about how the audio sounds why don't you give me a few things to try to resolve the issue?

Thank you,
Justin
