I'm looking for pointers with the following project please...

I want to prevent a 40m pixie kit from transmitting, and wondered if I could leave out one of the transistors? I will try to add a schematic.

Thanks!

Normally, I'd be cutting the power trace to the transmitter, but if you're assembling this, then just leave out everything on the positive rail that goes to the transmitter circuit.

That modification would render the whole circuit including its receiver function inoperable.

Do you think there would be a way? Or maybe just leave out the key socket?

Couldn't you just build it as normal, but not connect a key to it?

I wouldn't bother with that circuit. It only works on the frequency of its crystal and the received signal needs to be huge from a very long 60ft wire antenna, as there's no amplification, to produce an enough interfering signal to make a beat tone strong enough to be heard from the audio amplifier. It probably only works with CW morse code from someone in your neighborhood using a 100W transmitter.

Thanks for the replies.

The kit was already on order from China, so I can't really change my mind.... But for the small price it cost, I'm not too worried if it isn't that great - it's just sometimes nice to make something.

I expect I may get something better one day, kit or not.
