Radio Shack 20-196 "Start Message" Text

Maybe this is old news, but it's new to me. You can text in your own custom "start message" on your 20-196
if you key in PGM, then FUNC, and then TEXT. Now you can substitute your own text to appear on the read-out when you turn your scanner on. Enter that text in the same way you would enter a text tag on any channel.

I use my amateur call, name, and hometown. You might want to do the same, but use your own

Could work on similar scanners--I don't know. Never tried.

Yes on the PRO-106 I have my name,address,number, and city and state and have a password for it also.

That started with the Pro-96 in 2003. However, lines 1 through 3 requires software for entries in 96/2096 & 97/2055.
