Good day all. I'm looking for someone that has a physical copy of the Radio Shack COMP-100 programing book.
I know there is a service manual available, I'm not looking for that or the SCANPROG program.
I'd like to verify if the SCANPROG is giving the right buttons to push for a COMP-100 I have that has no RX.

Can someone either who has the programming book verify what SCANPROG is saying please.

I know, long shot, but worth it.

Thank you in advance 73!

I don't have the book, unfortunately. Would have loved a copy myself. However, I have used the computer program with my COMP-100 and it always resulted in the correct frequency. I seem to remember using the program for my Bearcat 101 also.

I actually have two COMP-100's, one of which no longer receives. All I get is white noise in the speaker while the other was receiving traffic on the same frequency.

The service manual has 16 codes for alignment frequencies listed on page 8. The frequencies span all bands and should serve to check the program.

Ya too bad, I've heard once they've gone south they're not worth fixing. Thanks for the information.

Thank you! Yes, I have that and unfortunately it doesn't tell you how to program the scanner for any other frequency except for these test ones. For example if I wanted to program in my local weather station, 162.55 Mhz there's no way to figure do that independently of SCANPROG.

No problem! Generally, I would agree with not bothering to repair. Components specific to the radio, such as IC's cannot be obtained except by buying parts radios. However, it might be worth it if it was a matter of replacing capacitors or resistors that can still be sourced. They are fun radios to play around with it and do work fairly well.

I had a friend that had one years ago and loved it. This one is in pristine condition physically so I'd love to get it working.

Absolutely! Being Radio Shack's first programmable scanner, it's certainly a significant radio in the history of scanning receivers. They were manufactured in Japan by GRE and their build quality seems excellent. It's successor, the Pro-2001, is very similar in appearance except the 2001 has a keypad for frequency entry.

I hope you are able to get yours working! Could be a simple issue, like oxidized contacts in one or more of the programming switches.
