If I had a little spare money I would try to get another 96 and/or 2096. $350 is a steal for one really. Although they are not feature loaded they are still great scanners.

Coupons good at my RS

Went to the local shack, located a Pro-163 and usb cable. Showed the coupon, walked out the door with a new scanner and cable for under $175. Made my Father's day gift real sweet!

Was able to use the coupon in West Chester, PA (outside Philadelphia) - got a Pro-96 for $350 (excluding tax) to replace my Bearcat 396. So far, the digital audio is better on the Pro-96 compared to the 396, IMHO. Also got four packs of AA batteries for $10 (not part of the discount).

Suffice to say I am a very happy camper...

It all went well for me today at Radio Shack. I went to the store in Lemoore CA at about 11:30AM. I asked about the coupon and was told YES by all means it's usable at their store and 30% off on nearly everything "Radio Shack Branded"!

QUICK NOTE:

I noted that when I got the unit home and opened it up it was rather heavy! Opened up the battery compartment and already had alkaline's installed. Turned the unit on and it had 7 local channels already programmed into the first bank. Unit still looks totally new and unblemished so I don't have any concerns. I did a check and the unit has DSP-App:F1.3 and Radio Shack shows they have version 1.4 available dated February 20, 2007. I am just wondering if this unit might have been their display for a while. I noticed that they had all of the boxes EMPTY on display currently and no units available to tinker with as displays.
