We had these in a big company I used to work in the early 90s they were used to page people out on the warehouse and production floor,they worked really good but did not have a good range far from the base unit you could connect the base unit to a outside antenna and page workers outside of the factory that was what it was really made for.......

There also was the Page Alert/ RS Mobile Alert car alarm working on the 27MHz frequencies. You had a pager that you carried and it beeped when the cvar alarm was going off.

I remember this alarm now. I knew I had some device but did not think it was the paging system. It was the car alarm.
I remember being worried it would not work worth a darn using 27 MHz but it ended up working very well.
It was very crude though and watched for current draw in the dome light ciruit to detect an intruder if a hidden disarm button or switch was not pushed in a certain amount of time after you entered your car.
