Is there a way to transfer data from the Radio shack Pro97 to the PSR 500? I have a friend who's willing to help me program my PSR 500 with his laptop and the available software for the PSR 500 .But it would make things a lot easier if we could at least start by transferring data from the Pro97 to the PSR 500 via software. And then add on to the PSR 500 software before uploading.

Yes Win500 lets you import the data from a Win97 p97 file. You would need copies of both softwares.

Or you can plug your cable into the PC/IF port on the 96/2096 or 97/2055 and suck scanner data into Win500 or PSREdit. With PSREdit you can suck selected V-Folders from the 96/2096 scanner. ARC500 doesn't have this capability because he doesn't have the protocol for any of the 4 scanners.

Although I do have a copy of Win97, I didn't have to use it to import .p97 data into Win500. Win500 will import Win97 & Win96 data files. You'll have no problem.
