Paco-Jerte, what all scanners do you have there? What are the iScan - are they digital trunking?

All will do digital trunking.
PRO-668 = The SCAN IT Boxes. Support P25 Phase II -the others don't
PRO-652 = Desktop Scanner
PRO-651 = Hand Held Scanner

At least I'm pretty sure those are the 652 and 651.

I managed to score a PRO-668 for $100 a couple of days ago and a PRO-652 for $120 a week or so ago. Both in the LA area. Used to use the scanner functionality of my ham radios when trunk tracking wasn't so important but these are my first trunk tracking scanners.

Story from Fox News: If you bought anything from Radio Shack they will be selling you name, address, and phone number along with you e-mail address to the highest bidder and auction. Radio Shack will be making money over this. The State of Texas has told Radio Shack NO and will not allow this to happen in Texas. Will other states also help all of us that have bought items from Radio Shack in the past. I am not in favor of this in Indiana. Posted Thursday 3/26/15 9:18AM

When it comes to RadioShack selling personal information this is old news. I remember about five years ago California went after them for doing this. If you count Texas recently stopping them then the total of states blocking them would only be 5.

You are going to enjoy both of them.

Went by the last store to close in my area yesterday, which was their next to last day. I was hoping to find a "$10 bag deal" like other people have mentioned.

Instead I walked in and was immediately told by a customer at the counter that he owned a Radioshack in another city and had just bought out the remainder of the store's stock. So nothing but fixtures were left.

I didn't have the heart to tell the guy that I had been cherry-picking over their stock for the past two weeks for all the stuff I thought I might be able to use and that I was just coming to get whatever was left that I passed over earlier.

Funny he waited till last minute when all the good stuff was long sold. Stupid move on his part.

Same I did last couple of RadioShack's. I bought some scanner's for myself and to traded with other. Had them call me about more as gave the manager phone number. .

Gave links and pass the word around to a few people that I know that wanted scanners and even a couple links here on this forum in my area for people to buy scanners, as they kept getting them in stock. Didn't want the resellers to get them all. Rather see them go to people that can use them and spread out, then just one guy just trying to make a quick buck.

Here they handle the clearance better in phases and did it right, so not one person took them all as they spread them out over time and didn't put them out all at once. and bought the price down slowly In some states like NY from what friends told me, as I had to ship a couple scanners to them, as they were waiting and didn't drop price, they had them at full MSRP and then decided last minute to dump them all at once all the sudden for $99 and unfortunately a reseller ended up taking them up. Don't really blame them as good price and profit to be made. Blame more RadioShack for the way they handle the clearance in those parts. They could have made more money if they spread them out over time, or move them to different stores, like they did here.

Yeah, most of what was left was individually packaged capacitors, some random electrical connectors, buzzers, and a ton of battery cases in various sizes. I had already pillaged all the RF connectors and antenna stuff the week before.

I spent a considerable amount of money at Radio Shack the past few months, starting when I first heard the local store was closing. But I am glad I did it the way I did.
When the mgr. first told me they were going on the chopping block, I bought some "Clearance" stuff. (Pre closing, usual clearance sale items) The following day I came in, and there was a noticeable amount of stuff missing, I asked him what was going on, he said the company sent some people over the night before to take all the "High end" stuff. He said he was going to start boxing up inventory to send them. I asked if anything was on sale, he stated everything was 20% off. I cherry picked a bunch of stuff I regularly buy from there, out of concern it was about to be boxed up and sent off. (And at 20% off)

Fast forward to about a week later, he said they were closing in 2 weeks, everything was now 40% off, parts bin stuff was "Buy $10, get 50% off" or something like that. I asked him for a box. I loaded up at that point on things I knew I would need eventually.

By the closing week, the store had been picked over pretty decent, but there was still a lot left. Everything was 60% off at that point, I asked for another box, I bought stuff I just wanted.

Closing day, I arrived at RS, went over to where the Manager had just pulled up in his truck, and walked in with him as he unlocked the door (There were some workers outside standing by a work truck, I guess they didn't realize he was the manager, and was getting there 10 mins early) I went in with him, he said "Those bags there, $10 each" and I started grabbing bags, there was maybe 12 large bags. I grabbed several, and those guys that were outside came running in, grabbing the bags I hadn't picked up yet. Just a minute later and I would have missed out. Turns out, they had driven over 50 miles to try to get all the bags. Oh well.

I still have bags and boxes of stuff I haven't even went thru, and stuff I am sure I'll never need. I have given away a lot of stuff (Hearing aid batteries to old folks I know, connectors, etc. to friends) But I don't regret spending the money on that stuff, and I'm glad it went down the way it did. I paid less than retail for the stuff I really needed (That would have been cherry picked by someone else had I tried to wait it out longer) and I paid pennies on the dollar for stuff I just wanted.

Sure hate to see them go.

Mall store here was worse- the DAY they started the discounts, no scanners and NO RADIOS whatsoever - not a single nice big Grundig shortwave radio that I'd been eyeballing, I stand corrected, there was one weather radio, but at 20% off it was still higher priced than the online price! All the good stuff was already gone. Another store was cleaned-out within a week, I have no idea if they ever did a 'bag sale'. A 3rd store had 80% - mostly drawers; had a $100 parts kit - but at $20 it was still barely worth what was in it - goes to show that there markup was way too high. I searched a 100 mile radius and no scanners from here!

I bought a couple of those Maker parts kits for $20 each too. They each have about 250 components, bread boards, power supplies, etc. so it was a pretty good deal. You're right though, they were way over priced. Funny enough, I saw a vendor at the Trenton (NJ) Computerfest flea market selling them for $50 a pop last weekend. He sold out too:)

All of these stories from you guys cherry picking the stores before they close makes me wonder...

If you always had been buying parts and supplies at the rate you are now, could Radio Shack have ended up with a happier ending?
