Radioshack 800 MHZ Trunktracker Help

Can anyone tell me how to program in talkgroup ID's on this type of scanner, I tried pressing the trunk button, but if you try to enter any numbers, an error message appears.

What kind of radio are you trying to program?
Pro-96, Pro-2096, Pro-97? a little more information would certainly be helpful.

Do I need to enter talkgroups to hear them or no?

no, you don't. just make sure your scanning in open mode (+), not closed mode (-). if you program the talkgroups, then you will only hear which ones are programed (as long as your in closed mode) if you dont program them, you will hear everything on the system.

There is no such thing as "open" or "closed" on this scanner. That is just confusing the issue.

No you don't, when you get to start in trunked mode than you should see the "- - - - -" on the display and a single "-" on the top line of the display, that indicates it has captured the CCh. On the bottom of the display it should be reading "SRCH". If "SCAN" is scrolling, then press the <SRCH> button. Remember this is how it works in trunked mode, not conventional scanning mode.

Press <TRUNK> once, pick the bank that you have correctly programmed the TRS in and the display should look more like this:

TRUNK      -       
                - - - - -

   SRCH
