Hello everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to discuss this, but what has everyone been hearing for Ragbrai this year? I saw a lot of old VHF Frequencies in the fourms for SAG wagons in previous years but other than that haven't seen anybody talking about where they are seeing the bulk of their traffic.

I finally caught them on tac 6 yesterday, first time hearing it

When they signed off last night they said see you tomorrow at 6, not a peep today so far

I don’t think ragbrai has updated so those old ones probably are still good if your radio has close call on it you can run a search and see if anything new pops up for them. They also might be on event channels too on the Iowa system state wide as well

Thanks. I caught little bit of traffic on tac 6 this morning from some troopers in Marshelltown. It will be real interesting to see what happens when they enter SARA territory, I bet they'll just patch ISICS Tac 6 to Law 1 on the SARA in Buchanan county for tonight, but it'll be hard to tell.

So, it seems like DPS is using regional tacs for main operations around cities, then contact IC over Statewide Tac 6. For the Buchanan county area it seems to be R6 tac 66.

I haven't heard them again since Wednesday here in Southern Iowa, maybe they shut our towers off traffic that far east.

SARA has the same ISICS TAC 6 as the ISICS network, they are tied/patched together at all times. The more appropriate patch, if it were to occur, would likely be ISICS TAC 6 to SARA TAC 6.

It seems like ISICS Will utilize their "Bottom up" tac channel delegation, with a Statewide tac being used for units contacting "Ragbrai command" (Most likely tac 6), and regional tac channels used for normal operations.

Yes. "Bottom Up" is the way they get utilized starting with TAC x6 (x=whatever region you're in) for planned events or training events.

Multi-jurisdictional emergencies go top down starting with TAC x2 down to TAC x6

All dispatch centers have access to a website that shows what tac channels are currently assigned to incidents... Some just don't use it and wind up asking state radio for a channel instead.

TAC 66 will only be used in Region 6.

They probably left your area. You shouldn't hear regional tac channels outside of your area unless someone in your area has a radio that has affiliated and requested that channel... Even then, they're often denied.

I can't use my county ops channel from several hundred miles away. That's what dedicated roaming talkgroups are for. Were they on IA Tac 6 or a different channel?

Yes, tac 6 on the isic system, only could hear them on Wed all day. I heard them sign off for the night and said see you at 6 tomorrow
