I have a question. When Raleigh FD switches to tac north, south, or west Direct, how can i monitor the direct channels? i dont understand what this means and how i can monitor the tac channels? Of course when they are just on their normal channels I can listen but I dont know how to program my scanner to hear the tac direct channels? and when the FD switches to tac west i have a hard time picking that tac channel up. Someone please let me know, thanks

This is directly from the database for Raleigh. There are also several FD TG's in VIPER. I don't know which scanner you have but program this below list as conventional FM. Then when they are directed to Tac West, the scanner should stop on 158.7900 and if the scanner has alpha tags, you should see the tag also. Pressing Manual should hold on Tac West until you press Scan again.

The Raleigh FD VHF "Direct" channels are low powered simplex frequencies...meaning that you would need to be near the unit transmitting to hear the conversation...However this is getting ready to change as Raleigh FD will be moving to the State of NC "VIPER" system this Tuesday, January 10th. System/Talkgroup info is located HERE in the RR.com database. You will need to own a APCO 25 Digital Capable scanner such as the Pro96/BC396T in order to monitor Raleigh FD starting Tuesday.
Hope this helps!
