So. Sounds like this could be fixed by there firmware? So will they change this or dumber question id think it could be changed in softwareI bought one, I do like the larger color screen. It is a hundred times easier to manually program over the RE3000. The ability to have the backup frequencies associated with the car no. and driver is a plus too. That being said, I am disappointed by what I take as mis advertising by Racing Electronics. I spent a day emailing back and forth then ended with a phone call with them, to see if my RE4000, needed a firmware update. Under Custom Series, there is "not" the ability to save two backups to a car no/driver. Only one backup per car. I was told that only over the air programing would enable two backups per driver. The lack of two backups under custom series was news to them. But they assured me that nothing was wrong with my scanner. I will try to attach a video of the issue I am talking about.

It could be fixed by a firmware update, provided the scanner has enough memory. In today's electronics, memory is cheap. I would guess that it does have enough. When I was playing around with the scanner, I tried the update firmware option, the Bluetooth symbol came on, that makes me wonder if an "over the air" update could upgrade the firmware. Or if it would need to connect via Bluetooth, or possibly a cord to update the firmware. Another feature they should consider, is that when you enter a car number, the scanner automatically scans all three frequencies associated with that car and stops on the frequency with chatter. A lot of teams use two frequencies at a race, sometimes only spotter to driver, and the other spotter to crew chief, not to bother the driver. I really wanted to like the scanner, but $350.00 plus shipping, wanted me to have what was advertised. Here's an example:So. Sounds like this could be fixed by there firmware?
