Hopefully, it has the ability to scan both or 3 frequencies assigned to a car number after entering the car number. That would be much nicer than car #3 on channel 3, and channel 07, and channel #02. Got my fingers crossed.

I agree multiple channel per driver that 230 and 330 format was perfect. I think it was called race mode or race fan

As it stands limit on amount of headphones connected via bt might be a game changer for folks with multiple listeners lol. Manual will be interesting read. I dont know why we cant get access to some way of programming not via keypad! (When not in ota mode) Multiple bt connections,(for audio)software/app progamming needs to be a big feature. Old re2000 allowed a serial cable and old software.Yes there is a headphone jack should u need multiple audio listeners.

1st impression of the RE4000 is I don’t like it it has multiple frequencies you can switch back and forth on drivers with multiple frequencies , but it does not use the tones and Saturday during the truck race Kyle Busch was on a 462 frequency and about all I heard was interference and finally cut it off and used my re3000

Why they dont offer software and cable to program it for non ota events irks me. Brand new fancy one and .. away from track u need to still manual program via keypad. Still possibly may buy one for shts and grins. Why not lol. I collect racing type scanners. Had some fans beta tested. The scanner could have been much better. Can u clarify the amount of bt headsets it will pair to? Alot of folks with multiple headsets at track often share a radio. If the bt radio on it could allow multiple pairings it would sell big-time

I bought one, I do like the larger color screen. It is a hundred times easier to manually program over the RE3000. The ability to have the backup frequencies associated with the car no. and driver is a plus too. That being said, I am disappointed by what I take as mis advertising by Racing Electronics. I spent a day emailing back and forth then ended with a phone call with them, to see if my RE4000, needed a firmware update. Under Custom Series, there is "not" the ability to save two backups to a car no/driver. Only one backup per car. I was told that only over the air programing would enable two backups per driver. The lack of two backups under custom series was news to them. But they assured me that nothing was wrong with my scanner. I will try to attach a video of the issue I am talking about.

It could be fixed by a firmware update, provided the scanner has enough memory. In today's electronics, memory is cheap. I would guess that it does have enough. When I was playing around with the scanner, I tried the update firmware option, the Bluetooth symbol came on, that makes me wonder if an "over the air" update could upgrade the firmware. Or if it would need to connect via Bluetooth, or possibly a cord to update the firmware. Another feature they should consider, is that when you enter a car number, the scanner automatically scans all three frequencies associated with that car and stops on the frequency with chatter. A lot of teams use two frequencies at a race, sometimes only spotter to driver, and the other spotter to crew chief, not to bother the driver. I really wanted to like the scanner, but $350.00 plus shipping, wanted me to have what was advertised. Here's an example:10banks330channels.jpg

I thought that it was supposed (or advertised as such to kinda similar to "uniden race mode"
