REACH callsign

Is there a civilian Airline that uses a callsign of "reach".

I thought reach was Military Airlift Command, but I heard "REACH 3117" talking to Atlanta Center on 133.350, the VHF Atlanta ARTCC remote transmitter in Albemarle ,NC.

I have not heard any miitary aircraft on this VHF frequency before.

I was just wondering if this was some military aircraft leaving KVUJ which has lots of military activity

Even though there is lots of military activity in this area, before this they were always on UHF.

It was unusual, and it tweaked my curiosity.

The REACH callsign is often times also used by civilian aircraft under contract to the MAC.

REACH is only used by military units. Transport aircraft use VHF most of the time. Combat aircraft tend to use UHF.

The callsign for civilian contractors is CAMBER.

Did you mean 135.350 ? Which is the published frequency in that sector. I'm not aware of Atlanta using 133.350 ? Just wondering if maybe it was a new frequency ?

MY mistake it was 133.15.
ATL ARTCC remote xmtr at Albemarle, NC.
Near KVUJ.

133.35 is KCLT west runway tower.

Lots of low level Mil Air activity in and out of KVUJ, mostly SF helicopters and c-130 doing paratrooper drops out of POPE and Ft Bragg.

Never heard a C-17 in this area b4.

Which one? I suspect you're mis-hearing the callsign, unless Reach is the name of the company. ICAO does not assign duplicate voice callsigns.

Reach Air Medical Services of Santa Rosa CA has an official ICAO designator of REH and callsign of REACHMED per ICAO 8585.What flight crews and ATC have managed to trim it down to on-air is not official.

I can't find any "official" source to back up DaveNF2G's post, but an unofficial undated list does indicate that civilian flights under contract are using CAMBER. I haven't heard it used, but the last time I heard REACH wasn't too long ago and it was an Atlas operated aircraft using it.

I'm going to assume it's a recent change.

Also, Don't forget KC-10's and KC-135's use Reach callsigns. I have heard some of the KC-135's use them while scanning. Here is my other proof scroll down to post 3.

The radarspotting.com forum has a reference to the CAMBER callsign from back in 2012.

Often hear "Reach" callsigns down here, inbound from Hawai'i for the Globemasters and from American Samoa from Hercs. They also use "Reach" when going down to McMurdo. I think both aircraft are staffed by reservists as a training excercise, flight deck crew too from the New York Air National Guard.

We had one of the LC130 Hercs in our hangar for a long time for repair - it was the one that slid off the McMurdo runway and buried itself. It was eventually dug out and refurbished and flown back to the US. Don't think it was this one though....
