Hello all I have a PSR-600 that I am having an issue with. I am trying to monitor a site with a wildcard talkgroup. When doing this the T is not showing, neither is the S. However when I push TSYS the strength is 98-99% and the T and S immediately show up. I believe that I am missing a bunch of stuff. My question is why when scanning with a wildcard TG would I have this issue? Thanks for all the replies in advance.

I have the PSR-500 and the "T" does not show when someone is talking either. My local trunked systems are p25/moto 800/900 and edacs. I tried an LTR (Mandalay Bay Las Vegas) and the "T" shows when someone is talking. I'd have to go back and read the manual but I think the "T" only shows when the data is being received and I do not believe it means you are "missing" anything. Go to analyze mode on the control channel and it should be on all the time. The "S" should show when you are getting signal and the sensitivity of that meter can be set by the user. Maybe have a look at what you have it set on? I use win500 to program, the setting for "S" meter is on the extended settings RSSI bar threshold levels.

No I do......But I am getting half of what I believe I should. And from my experience with this scanner is if the T is not showing then you are missing stuff. The T will come off and on periodically. But like I said when I analyze the CC the T stays on and the strength is 98-99%.

Ok, I know you know this, but the "T" is supposed to flash.

Where are you trying to hear San Felipe from? I thought you ran SW Houston?

The S means that your scanner is breaking squelch (receiving a signal). The T means that the signal you are getting is understood as trunking data for the type of system that TSYS is programmed for.

The "T" shouldn't - usually - show when someone is talking, because you are receiving voice, not trunking (control channel) data. On some systems where control data is communicated along with the voice traffic, you might see the T flicker or show steady during voice.

My suspicion is that your trunking tables are messed up for the TSYS in question. That's about the only reason I can think of that you wouldn't get the T while parked on the wildcard, but would get good decode when you go in to analyze mode. Even still, now that I think on it, this shouldn't prevent you from seeing the T when holding on the wildcard.

Although I'm far, far away from you and the system in question, I could take a look at the programming and see if I can spot anything strange. Are you able to download it into either a PSREdit or Win500 data file and either post it here as an attachment (zipped up) or email it to me at jay911@gmail.com?

It's a P25 system, so assuming it is set to P25 Auto the trunking tables shouldn't be an issue.

I am in Far west Ft. Bend county at the house. Do you have to use the rebanded tables for p25 systems? All the channels are 800mhz ones. That might be the issue.

I selected the Attenuator option and seems to be working a lot better now. Thanks for the ideas.
