Dear friends: Sending this to support@radioreference.com because I couldn’t figure out where, or how, to post it in any of the RR forums.
I own a Yaesu FRG 7700 (Serial No. 4J-310098) which I bought new in December 1984. Understand that Yaesu first manufactured these units in 1981. Unfortunately discontinued, not sure when. Still have the owner’s manual and wiring diagram. The radio has given me many years of good service. Kept inside in a nonsmoking environment.

A couple years ago it started making a loud static noise when powered up. Stopped using it due to this issue. I have other radios, but the FRG7700 is my first. And like a fine old car or firearm, is near and dear. I contacted Yaesu in California about getting it serviced. The gentleman I spoke to in the Summer of 2020 told me they did not do service on any units older than mid 1990s.

Does anyone in RR have any information on shops which do radio repair in Michigan? Or even in other states near Michigan. I do not have the technical training or expertise to fix it myself. Not even sure where I’d find parts if the unit needed them. I’m also a firm believer in not messing with anything involving electronics. Best left to professionals.

If there is a way to post this on the appropriate forum. Can you tell me what forums and how I post message? As you can tell, I’m not technically savvy. Just rolled 70 but I’m an old dog still willing to learn new tricks! Any information you can provide will be appreciated.
