To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

In 1959 I had a 18Q something, then in 1964 after moving to Maryland, I received KCF 2063, really sounded nice! Five years later. it was replaced with KKI 3163. After a lull of Fifty years, became N4ACH. Still in the game, more frequencies, more contacts, more fun!

How many of you had your call letters on the bumper or truck lid of your car/truck.
That was "the thing" in the late 60s, early 70s where I grew up. Those stick-on mailbox/house numbers and letters were used a lot. Some of us put on the channel # where we would be monitoring. I guess this was the ancient form of wearing our colors. Good memories.

My dad let me put his call on the back of the truck cover, not to long after that our Midland 23 ch. SSB rig was stolen out of the truck...

Just saw this thread. Way back in 1963 or 64 mine was KKK1122 - "Triple K Eleven Twenty-two". I had a Polycom 23 as base and a Johnson Messenger III in my car.

The F.C.C. didn't see a need to keep a historical record of Citizens Band, because they saw it as an unlicensed service, therefore the old licenses were unlicensed as well. I didn't agree, as I think all historical records should be archived. The history student side of me says when you erase history, you erase knowledge.
They also mentioned there was a computer issue that caused a lot of data to be corrupted. And although they retrieved the broadcast, microwave, and LMR records, no effort was placed on the CB database.
Best I could do for my personal historical perspective was to create a copy, minus Ben F, Waple's stamp.
