Where do you find the software for the system? I have an RTL.SDR and it does nothing. It doesn't even show as on in the COM Port

At some point within all that data, the System ID should be showing, not sure if it will identify the name of the system fully as well. But System ID, Site IDs/RAN #s, LCNs, Radio IDs, and Talkgroups are all important to identifying the system. Your logging of all this is greatly appreciated.

Only time I ever get to attempt to listen to that system to gather anything is when I go to Round Lake myself to chill at one of the campgrounds. Even then the only thing I've ever gotten was a RAN 33 on one of the site frequencies and that was it.

What you see in the logs above is all I got. If you tell me how to get the info you wish I would be happy to retrieve it for you.

Cheers

So I guess this week when I'm at work I'll just let it run and collect up all the data.

Any word on new findings and data with this system?

I'm happy to see that we finally have someone in the area to actually hear this system fully and to be able to determine the proper type and settings for it to be scanned properly.

Hey,

Sorry I didn't get this done this week. I had a serious computer problem that I just got sorted out. I ended up resorting to a system restore point. Phew. All is well. However there is a ton of software I must now reinstall such as SDRuno.

However, based on what I saw prior to my computer problems, I am close enough to both sites to receive and clearly decode both of them. So I don't see getting the data you seek as an issue.
I would hope to have everything back up and running by tonight. So > Stay tuned!!

Another Question

There are 2 sites. One here in Round Lake, and another right in Killaloe. Should I be scanning these 2 site separately? Like one week I do Round Lake and the other Killaloe?
I don't know if that will provide further clarity?

Some opinions and advice here would be most helpful.

Cheers

If it's similar to other systems I've been able to monitor in the past it's likely a Conventional networked system. Meaning users will have access to the system through both sites.

Network ID if there is one. RAN (Also LCN's - Local Channel Number), Identified talkgroups and users IDs on those talkgroups are usually what helps us build a system to enter into the database here as an active system. NXDN systems are helpful in the sense that it'll show the radio identity of a particular user. As shown in your previous screenshots.

I would think you should be able to monitor both of them with the same results aside from maybe the RAN #s one site will show (likely 33) and the other site will show a different RAN #

Well,

I didn't get this done this week either. I just got all back installed and running.... then yesterday's storm cleaned out the power supply on my computer. #@$!%!! lol. I am back up and running again so I will attempt next week.
I have noted that DSD doesn't decode these sites well. Or there is further encryption on this system, but we will find out.

What's the deal with Ontario Hydro? People out of power all around us and not a peep on the Barry's Bay channel of 49.070. Have they moved to a different system?

Cheers

Yeah that's not an easy nor fun task to take hold of with computers when they fail us. But great when ya start fresh again.

Hydro One is still on the VHF low band in the area, I still hear them periodically. They could be on any of these channels. Ontario - Hydro One Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
I have noted a few active ones at different times. Sometimes it's crews just passing through town enroute somewhere. I never have heard the helicopters though.

90% of Hydro One’s comms are on cellular. You might hear some truck to truck chatter if there are trucks close by.

There were two boom trucks parked just down the road from me a few minutes ago. Closer inspection shows that these two trucks didn't even have antennas. So it does seem the have move to phone based comms for the most part.

Thanks and cheers
