Repair center for uniden scanners

Does anyone know of a repair center or radio shop for Uniden scanners. I have a 396 which was connected to the wrong power pack.

Uniden in Ft.Worth Tx is the only repair center that Uniden has.

anybody ever sent one back for this problem? I plugged my 396t into the cable for my yaesu ht and had sparks blow out of the headphone jack (facepalm i know, but it was kind of cool to see). Anyway out of warranty and am afraid to call and get a quote to fix it.

Fort Worth is your only real option and good luck. Sent my 996T packaged in its original packaging with a bad headphone jack and it returned dumped in a cardboard box with a single wrap of bubble wrap with the antenna connector sticking through the side of the box. It was destroyed to say the least. Had to return it a second time for replacement of the BNC.

No more unidens for until they improve there repair service

I sent my 396t in to uniden and it was in its origonal box when i sent it but it too was dumped in a crappy box and the scanner still was the same when I sent it to them. I sold my 396 and purchased a Gre psr500 and works 100% better than my uniden. Dont get me wrong I do like the Uniden 996t but the 396t is crap, Just my opinon or I just got a lemon.

Mine was in a car wreck we had recently,
the whole top came off, antenna included,
can't get it back on.

Warranty is over anyway.

There is damage to the antenna
and the dc jack, headphone jack
and possibly other jacks in the
radio.

Will they just charge me the standard
$60.00 flat rate or will it be worse?

Looks like this is my xmas present of the
year.

The Flat Repair Rate is $59.50 with a 1 year warranty.Uniden is a Very Great Radio.They are a lot easier to program vs GRE which is very hard and you have to buy very expensive program cable that you do not need with Uniden.I am the proud owner of a lot of Uniden scanners that I use everyday and I had had ZERO problems with all of them.I bought a Radio Shack Pro-197(Same as a GRE 600) and it did nt work the way the Uniden 796D does as far as picking up what I need to hear.I took the RS 197 Back to Radio Shack and got a full Refund.

This was a very expensive radio for me and I
had saved up for a whole year to buy it.

If they were the kind to tell me
'"Just buy a new one" I would have
been very upset and told alot of pepole.

Thank goodness they will never do that then,
it is very good to know this.

Since there was no damage to any of the
boards, the radio still worked after I
tried to turn int on, its just the antenna
and top panel that snapped off, and some
damage to the jacks on the side and top,
is all there was, it should be very cheap, yes?=

Not a problem.I depend on my radios all the time and when I need them they are there to help me get the infomation I need.I will always recomend Uniden to others.

On a couple occasions in my car I've accidentally plugged my laptop cord to my 396T, rendering it battery powered only. I sent them in and I was pleased both times. The fee is decent, I got them back quickly, and most important of all, they were fixed.
