Sorry to hear of Todd’s passing and WTF is up with one of the comments in the link?
It was a coward that made a new account just to post that. I will keep to myself who I believe posted that as I have no proof. His brother didn't need to see that while looking for answers.
I worked with Todd early on beta testing firmware for P25P2. He was very responsive to suggestions. The live display was one suggestion that was a big hit. Not looking for credit just pointing out Todd's dedication to making the best product possible.
I consider him a friend. RIP.

I only had a few interactions with Todd, but he really did treat me like a friend. It’s truly sad to see him go.

I know this might be sensitive, but does anyone have a sense of if Todd would have wanted source code posted if he passed for those using his products? If so, might be the time while his brother is going through his computer. Obviously, open sourcing/preventing others from profiting off it would be the right thing — but that all sort of depends on if anyone has insight into his wishes. I sure can’t speak for him, but from my perspective I’d love to see his work live on.

(Of course, if anyone does know his wishes, I’d be willing to throw a few $ into a pot to compensate his family for the effort/trouble of digging it up and donating it. I doubt it would amount much, but could at least help with expenses, and not have us come off as demanding/entitled, rather people who respected him enough to scrape together donations.)

A lot of his source code was available on GitHub. He made it public so others could improve it. Also I believe Goldmyne may have quite a bit as well, because he worked closely with Todd on software.

Man, I was one of the first ones to buy one of the very first BT P25 RX devices. Todd, you made my life easier as a radio technician using your product to do BDA troubleshooting- your product was more than just a toy. What I admire is your drive, your American spirit of creating something from scratch that solved a problem, and your unwavering support and belief of it.

I am sorry I wasn't there to get to know you better. After the "Summer of Love (2020)" we all got busy, busy apparently to much to hear your need for someone to listen.

I will learn from your leaving this earth to soon that I will listen- to anyone that needs it. PM me. I'll provide my real phone number and I'll just listen. Listening to understand, not to reply.

May you rest in peace. You did leave this place just a little better than it was when you got here. I know you are in a place where this is no pain, no ugliness, and are surrounded by joy. Thank you for what you contributed to the world of RF exploration.

Since his brother has stated Todd’s life was in BlueTail, then that is definitely his legacy and should surely be preserved and hopefully continued.

Oh man. I just saw a note in another thread, so I searched for this thread. What an unwelcome surprise.

I remember some posts were it was obvious that Todd was stressed about the success of BTT, but nothing that sounded that despondent.

You will be missed, Todd.

Two years ago, late July, sadly almost to this past week, he posted on this site, about his situation and apologized for some things he said. He did not seem overly despondent, but had some very real financial struggles, perhaps regret of quitting his job. It was apparent his life revolved around engineering and he was very committed to his craft. Very sad. Really a big loss for his family and all those who he bestowed his talents. As far as the hater who posted on his blog site, what is with that? Was someone bullying him on line? A sicko...

That post was one reason I started a new BlueTail support forum. His forum’s admin panel is password protected and nobody can moderate the forum or ban that user. Also, most likely his store site will eventually disappear as well for the same reason, locked hosting account. I too want to see his legacy go on. I have most of the files and pertinent information pages on his website archived. And I have posted links to everything on the new BlueTail forum

I was just over on his BTT Forum and someone asked his brother if his radios were for sale because they saw an advert somewhere. His brother said NO, the estate needed to go to probate, so beware of "fire sales" that are probably scams. Sickos...

I posted a link I found on the internet as a joke on my forum that advertised a P25RX for $20.99. It is a scam site. Like the Dillard’s site posted in the Uniden section a couple of weeks ago. It has “.xyz” in the website address. Any site with that designation is most certainly a scam.

He went over and beyond to get my Nano working on my Johnson/Harris system, even going so far as to develop an updated firmware that is still available on his website. I just acquired a P25RX that I plan to operate alongside my Nano. I eventually hope to be able to acquire a Micro and P25RX-II so I can gain experience with all of Todd’s products
