When MONTGOMERY tells the unites to go respond ruteen, does this mean they are to go normal speed or just with their lights on & going emergency speed?
So same as responding emergency then, but why do they say to repond routinely [thanks for the right spelling - whis this site had a spell checker to it]?
Are you guys sure about a "routine"response. I'm from across the river, but if the dispatcher says routine response, I think that's like driving to church on sunday or to the grocery store. Just driving normal speed......we use a different system but maybe someone from Montgomery can shed some light on this.... :?
"Routine" response is also known as "code 1" response in Montgomery County -- this is a non-emergency response. "Code 3" response is an emergency response (lights and siren).

SORRY MY MISTAKE, UM... I THOUGHT YOU WERE SPEAKING ABOUT FIRE/EMS STUFF. IN POLICE WORK,WHEN THE DISPATCHER TELLS
YOU TO RESPOND TO A CALL WITH NEITHER A "CODE 1 OR 2" (DEPENDING ON YOUR AREA) YOUR NOT TO RESPOND WITH LIGHTS AND SIREN OR BE DRIVING YOU POLICE CRUISER AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED, BUT WHEN A DISPATCHER TELLS YOU TO RESPOND"CODE 3" THAT MEANS HIGH RATE SPEEDS AND LIGHTS AND SIRENS A BLASTING.
B-SAFE
Thanks, I thought that this is what they meant but was not sure. I live in the Silver Spring/Wheaton area of the county. Station 5's area [fire] & rescue 2 covers both towns.
