If you want to hear all the hash and trash, turn your RF GAIN all the way up and leave it that way. Yes, it brings in weaker signals, but also brings all the static and hiss with it, pretty much in equal proportion. Myself, unless I am talking skip, I back the RF GAIN off until I can barely hear the static. All the locals come in loud and clear with no problem. Just my 2 cents.
