The inexpensive analyzers may be the reason for this. I have an AA-54 and rarely use it due to the quick and varied readings I can get with a sub $300 Vector Impedance Analyzer that does much more. I would probably purchase an AA-1400 for $200-$300 to have as a backup…and still probably rarely use it.
* I should note that I have compared the readings of that sub $300 analyzer with an Agilent 8935 and the results were so favorable that I use the sub $300 over the 8935 due to the small size and quick results. Still, there is a time and place when the 8935 is a must…during my use in the “amateur” radio world.
