There are quite a few phantom low band users in the Bergen/Passaic area. Personally, I'd have kept it. "Back in the day," their cars had Syntor-X radios (the pushbutton control heads) with DVP (encryption) so they could scramble up on low band. The fun part was that they had VRS mobile repeaters that had VHF high band portables. If you had that frequency, it would always be transmitted in the clear, even if they were using the DVP. All that stuff is long gone.
Yes, one agency near me uses UHF, then goes to lowband with voice inversion.

LOL! I love inversion. I've got a few Motrac speech inversion kits that fit over the control heads. Unfortunately, they're museum pieces these days.

902, I was doing some FCC license searches under Ringwood. I didn't want to start a new thread for something like this(sorry for stirring up an old thread).

I found that 156.2175 is still licensed to them?

Its a 2 watt, I'm assuming portable. Any idea if that is still in use? Was that the freg. you were talking about?

As a Tac, or something?

I've been trying to put some missing links back together for them and Wanaque.

I listened in CSQ and got middletown PD on 156.2100, 206.5(PL matches what I saw on my scanner).

Any help, apreciated

It's probably a TAC channel or could be a fireground. A lot of towns that use Repeaters for primary fire responses are switching to simplex for fireground as recommended by NFPA.
