Does anybody know why the city fire department scanner is off-line? Is it permanent or will it be online again sometime in the future. Even some of the online county scanners, (including all of the digital ones) haven't been up for quite a while.

Yes, I've read that before but it doesn't answer my question. I question was specifically about these feeds and since they don't show up on the database (I'm presuming because of the three-week rule) I can't find a way to contact the person providing the feed.

There is a chance that the original feed provider will see this post and answer, but that may not happen. It depends on how active he or she is on RadioReference. After three weeks, it is probably best to assume that somebody else will have to step up and provide a feed or feeds. In addition to the reasons given in the link above, it's possible that the previous feed provider moved out of the area. I don't know, but it happens.

Coverage and Hardware issues are leaving me with no choice but to take the feeds down for now. There may be a possibility of me restoring them in the future but for now, I had to let them go.

This feed claims to cover channels 1 & 2 which are Rochester FD but reception of mobiles may be limited since it is located in Webster.

There is also a feed (temporarily off-line) for the Monroe/Ontario TRS that covers RFD in addition to almost everything else in the area.

Montioring the FIRE/EMS TGs on the P25 system has the advantage of hearing all mobile unit activity that the dispatcher hears over the receiver voting system. The disadvantage of this feed is it covers so many TGs that the chance of following activity from the particular agency you are interested in is slim since the system is so busy.

Thanks so much. I didn't look at those because I didn't say specifically they covered RFD. I really don't know the channel allocations too much up that way anymore. Used to be in West Henrietta Fire Department a long time ago and like to keep up with activity up that way.

I certainly agree with what you said about monitoring P25 systems. The system here in Louisville has more TGs than you can shake a stick at. I think even the guys running the lawnmowers in the parks have their own TG. I know that communication is a good thing but it can also be overdone which is what's happening these days in many places.

I can't stand to listed to feeds that try to cover too many agencies. This P25 feed claims over 60 TGs monitored. I don't see the logic of scanning so many TGs at once or why the Town PD TGs are omitted from the feed but County Public Works (including the Sewer Department) are included.

It would make sense to do a feed from this P25 system for only Fire and EMS TGs given the advantage over what you can hear monitoring the VHF Fire channels directly and now EMS is only on the P25 system. Fire is supposed to move to the P25 system by early next year although the date is not firm and the fate of the VHF frequencies after conversion is not clear at this time.

This feed does give an interesting overview of the P25 system activity but I think that more focused feeds for the various services would be much more useful.
