I have a pro164 and use ARC300 for help on programming. I have been having trouble monitoring roseville fires new frequencies. I programmed them all into the bank as MO as well the talkgroups 1616 and 1712. I checked the custom reband box, but am not sure as to what the Lo, Hi, Offset, Base, and Step should be. i'm able to hear if i am on one channel only but if I attempt to scan the bank then the radio traffic is never picked up by the scanner. I also have rocklin, lincoln, and placer county fire in the same bank.
Has anyone have any good direction to point me in to mitigate this problem?
Thank You
Corey

Roseville TRS

Hello. First of all, Roseville Fire Dispatch can be found in two places (radio-wise). They have a VHF frequency (154.040) as well as a TG on the Roseville TRS. While it is a "simulcast", I still monitor both. And as you probably already know, their main TAC channels are only on the TRS.

There are differrent types of Motorola systems, some in the ~450 MHz UHF band. Make sure you are setting Base, Step & Offset for 800MHz Motorola.

I do not use ARC300, I have been using WIN97 to program these scanners (the PSR-300 is the same radio as the PRO-164). I do know that it requires software to make the correct setting in the scanner (it can NOT be done manually). I am not sure of the exact steps in ARC300.

In WIN97, under "MOT 800 MHz" you select "Multi-table", then you click on "Extended Tables", and then you select '800 MHz "Rebanded"'. Perhaps that software uses the raw data like ScannerBoy gave you, or has a pre-determined table; but either way you MUST make this type of selection to trunk track the Roseville system.

I have a similar issue:
Hi All;

I have a rebanded/latest firmware updated scanner (BCD996XT) that should be capable of scanning the rebanded Roseville City Trunk system, but does not appear to be picking up anything at all. I have entered in all the frequencies and talkgroups on both of my scanners (I updated and programmed my GRE 400 also, just to make sure), and I hear nothing on either. I am using ARC-XT for the 996 and ARC 300 for the GRE.

Has anyone else had a similar issue, and if so, how was it resolved?

Thanks.

Motorola 800 "Custom" is the sytem type you want. It may not be listed or named like that but it should be in your menu as a choice to choose if you have a "rebandable" scanner.

Band plan 1 should be:
Lower:851.025
upper:854.000
step:25
offset:440

Band plan 2:
Lower:851.0125
Upper:868.9875
step:25
offset: leave at "0"

These bandplans definately work on unidens. Im not sure if it is exactly the same on RS/GRE radios.

That's how I have it set up Vince; not sure what the problem is. I am in Elk Grove, have always picked Roseville up in the past, and I am on a second story in my house; you'd think I should get them now. Maybe I am just out fo range. In conventional mode I can not copy a control channel, so I just might be out of range.

Roseville control channel

As I sit here right now, 22:57 on 8/19, the Roseville control channel is 853.3500 MHz. I expect it to switch down to 853.0500 within the next couple of hours. If you are not picking up the control channel in MAN mode, then programming/etc doesn't matter, you won't trunk track them.

Right. I went to manual mode and can not copy the control channel with my 996XT. I could (barely) copy one on 853.3500 last night with my GRE400, apparently not enough for the GRE to pick up the trunk system either.

Does anyone know if Roseville repositioned their transmitting antenna anytime recently?

Thanks all for the help. I am actually heading out that way today, and may put the scanner in the car to see if it will work, or if I did something wrong in the programming, which I doubt.

I see on the August-September APCO log that they approved Roseville's request to add a new "west site" to the trunked system.

I'll see what I can do with the bandplans that were posted. I have updated the pro164 with the 1.06 updates but have not been able to download the 1.07version. Could this have something to do with not being able to trunk Roseville?

I am running version 1.06 and trunk tracking Roseville just fine. If you are receiving the control channel with good quality decode and cannot trunk track, the most likely issue is how you have the bandplan programmed. If you are not receiving the control channel, then your issue is reception.

I'm located in Rocklin so the reception isn't the case. As for the control channel I'm showing 853.55 Sys-7A3B 93% from my station in jackson/ Sutter Creek. I am at work right now so I'll attempt tomorrow to see if the bandplan that I've entered is right.
I was informed of 2 different plans for this system by an above reply. Should I program both at once or is it better to do them seperate?

If the scanner/software will let you program both band plans put them both in.

Band plan 1
Lower 851.0250
upper 854.0000
step 25
offset 440

Band plan 2
Lower 851.0125
Upper 868.9875
step 25
offset 0

If it will only let you put in one band plan put in

Lower 851.0250
upper 854.0000
step 25
offset 440

So I've been able to only copy fire traffic on VHF today. If I manually scroll through the channels as they are dispatching or talking I'll come across the radio traffic, but if I leave the bank in scan mode I'll only get a hit with VHF. As I look in my program it didn't allow the bandplan to stay with 851.XXXX for either Lo it leaves it as 851, same for the Hi. Not sure why this is happening.

Just for my edification -

Since the first channel in the band is 851.0125 (8CALL90), why load the lower limit as 851.0250 instead of 851.000?

Thank you everyone for helping me try and fix this problem. It's working now. What I did was just hit the Load Reband Table button and today I've had no problem scanning Roseville.
For others data records this is what works for me.
Lo Hi Offset Base Step
440 559 440 851.0250 25.00

0 719 0 851.0125 25.00

720 759 0 848.0000 25.00

815 831 0 846.6250 25.00

958 958 958 868.9750 25.00

961 1022 0 843.4000 25.00
