I think I'm the only one who still listens to Round Rock (FD).I have been too busy lately to update the info. I wiil make submissions when I can. I haven't been on the database for a long time. I assumed the changes had been made.

When the county and Round Rock went to digital, I was the only one updating the database daily. I had a lot more time on my hands back then and I was determaned to getting the system updated.

Sorry for not keeping it current. You have to understand that nothing is 100% correct or constant in this hobby. Things change daily, but RRPDn is not going to change away from encryption. I will say that I'm very correct in making that statement.

Do you know why Round Rock decided to join Williamson County by using encryption? Was there a particular incident that prompted it such as catching someone using a phone app in the commission of a crime?

From what I was told by 3 different RRPD officers, they were having problems with the scanners being in the hands of criminals. The criminals were able to hear them coming and they had to do something about it. The way that this PD is, I'm very surprised they didn't go to encryption before the S.O. did. The S.O. was encrypted for a long time before RRPD was. Round Rock has been a low crime city for quite a long time. The PD has always been hard nosed and tough on crime. With the growth it is experiencing, I'm sure they want to keep it that way. For a city and it's outlying areas with a population of roughly 125,000 that's saying a lot. When I first came here and met my wife in 1976, the population was roughly around 7000. So you can see that I've seen a lot of changes in this city. I can remember back then that RRPD only had just a small handful of employees. If my memory serves me well, I thnk there was only about 10 or less. Now days I've heard that they have about 125 employees. Back in 76, I knew all the officers. Can't do that anymore.

My wife had a flower shop here for 37 years. Bought the building next door and knocked out the center wall to expand the shop. We found a Round Rock phonebook from 1948. It is 6 pages long and has single and double diget phone numbers in it. It measures 6"x8" roughly.

Here's a little bit of info that I found on Wikipedia...

In August 2008, Money magazine named Round Rock as the seventh-best American small city in which to live.[7] Round Rock was the only Texas city to make the Top 10. In a CNN article dated July 1, 2009, Round Rock was listed as the second-fastest growing city in the country, with a population growth of 8.2% in the preceding year.[8]

Here is a news report from KVUE, an Austin TV station. Posted on January 16, 2012 at 5:24 PM

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- One of the safest places to live in the country is right here in Central Texas. The city of Round Rock has been ranked as one of the top spots for safety in a study based on low crime statistics.

This is one of the main reasons why RRPD is the way they are...

I appreciate your effort. Now, those with Home Patrols, PSR 800s & other digital scanners won't waste their time attempting to monitor Round Rock LE.

Just noticed it's been a little while since the last post on here. I was curious if you're still able to monitor RRFD? I looking to purchase a BCD996XT in the near future.
